This has been developed by specialists including NASA scientists to provide education and tools to help air crew ensure that they get the best possible sleep and stay alert for flying.
The FAA has awarded supplemental type certificate approval to Innotech-Execaire Aviation Group to install its I-Cair cabin-air quality system on the Bombardier Global series. The I-Cair system was jointly developed by Dorval, Canada-based Innotech Aviation and Montreal-based Air Data, using its JetAir bio-protection system, with installations being done at Innotech’s completion center in Montreal.
AAR, an aviation products and services provider, has joined with Cheadle-based Quest International in the UK to develop and distribute Quest’s AirManager, an active air filtration and sterilization system designed to eliminate potentially harmful airborne contaminants. The agreement names AAR an authorized distributor of AirManager.

BAE Systems and Quest International of the UK have combined to launch a cabin-air system that can destroy airborne viruses and bacteria, including swine flu, Sars, bird flu and E. coli. AirManager has been flight tested on BAE 146/Avro RJ regional airliners operated by five European carriers, and has been selected by one for its fleet.
The Mesa Air Group CRJ200 pilots who fell asleep during a flight from Honolulu to Hilo on February 13 last year started work at 5:40 a.m. on three consecutive days before the incident, according to an NTSB factual report issued August 3.
The Feb. 13, 2008, incident in which both pilots fell asleep at the controls of a Go! Bombardier regional jet en route to Hilo, Hawaii, was caused by “the captain and first officer inadvertently falling asleep during the cruise phase of flight,” the Board noted. Luckily, the RJ carried extra fuel for a return trip to Honolulu, and the pilots woke up after flying 26 miles past Hilo.
