Boeing BBJ at Burbank

Boeing has sold 205 BBJs based on all of its aircraft models and that includes its two newest widebodies: the 787 twinjet and the 747-8 Intercontinental, the latest iteration of its iconic jumbo quad jet. Twin-aisle jets now represent the majority of the BBJ backlog. VVIP customers have ordered nine of the $318 million (green) 747s and 12 of the $185 million 787s.

New Comlux hangar

The recent award of three new completions contracts for VIP versions of Airbus and Boeing aircraft have prompted Comlux America to begin construction of a new hangar at its Indianapolis headquarters. The 64,500-sq-ft building is due to open in the second quarter of 2012 and will be able to accommodate four jets up to the size of a Boeing BBJ3.

Airbus introduced the latest operator to add an Airbus Corporate Jet (ACJ) to its charter fleet at NBAA. Tyrolean Air Services (TAS) of Innsbruck, Austria, has taken delivery of an ACJ318.
