PATS Aircraft, the Georgetown, Del.-based specialist in large executive/ VIP interior completions, recently outfitted a green BBJ2 for an Eastern European head of state in what it claims is a record 207 days, or about seven months. The interior, said v-p of quality and procurement Dominick Scott, came in 123 pounds under the target weight of 18,200 pounds.

Gore Design Completions (Booth No. 4050) has announced delivery of a Boeing Business Jet. The interior refurbishment was a major project that included replacement of virtually all the previous materials. Gore Design also performed A and B1/B2 maintenance checks, incorporated 25 Boeing service bulletins and cleared an airworthiness directive.
After celebrating its 10th year with record sales of 19 aircraft, Boeing Business Jets has logged 30 sales since last year’s NBAA Convention, said Steve Hill, BBJ president, at a press conference here in the Georgia World Congress Center on Monday. Total value of the orders increased from $2.25 billion last year to $2.9 billion this year. Included in this total are 16 BBJs, two BBJ2s, three BBJ3s, two 747-8 VIPs and seven 787 VIPs.
Gore Design Completions received its first Airbus Corporate Jetliner (ACJ) for completion early last month. The manufacturer approved the San Antonio firm as an outfitter last fall. Gore might also take delivery of a second widebody project in the middle of next year.
Midcoast Aviation last month announced its intention to move into the “narrow-body” cabin completion business, marked by groundbreaking on a new 146,000-sq-ft hangar at its St. Louis Downtown Airport facility near St. Louis.
It took a couple of years longer than expected, but operators of the Hawker 800 might find the wait has been worthwhile. After three years of work, Aviation Partners last month finally obtained an STC for its performance-enhancing blended winglets for the Hawker 800 series.
Beginning in January, PrivatAir will offer daily flights between Zurich and Newark Liberty International Airport, N.J., in partnership with Swiss International Airlines.
Midcoast Aviation recently announced its intention to move into the “narrowbody” cabin completion business, marked by groundbreaking on a 145,000-sq-ft hangar at its St. Louis Downtown Airport facility. The hangar is expected to open for business next summer and add at least 200 employees to Midcoast’s staff of 1,100.
Early figures show that most business aircraft manufacturers reported increased deliveries in the second quarter, with much optimism that the industry is now in a sustained recovery.
At the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE) in late May, a representative of Airbus expressed frustration at the difficulty in finding sufficient slots at independent completion and refurbishment centers to do executive cabin work at the same pace the company is producing airplanes.
