The NTSB has launched an investigation into the wingtip clipping that occurred between an Air France Airbus A380 (F-HPJD) and a Comair Bombardier CRJ700 (N641CA) at New York JFK International Airport last night.
Contingents from France’s Brit Air and Spain’s Air Nostrum joined Bombardier executives in Mirabel, Quebec, last month to mark the first deliveries of the newly certified CRJ1000. Germany’s Deutsche Lufthansa has exercised purchase rights on eight Bombardier CRJ900 regional jets, the Canadian manufacturer announced last month. Based on list prices, the value of the contract totals some $317 million.
Lufthansa said it expects to take delivery of the new aircraft in the first half of next year and place the 86-seat airplanes with its Lufthansa Regional unit.

Bombardier Aerospace has opened its third commercial aircraft service center in the U.S. The facility, located in Macon, Ga., and operated by Bombardier Customer Services, joins two pre-existing Bombardier-owned commercial aircraft service centers located in Bridgeport, W.Va., and Tucson, Ariz. The facility will perform heavy maintenance on the Bombardier CRJ100/200/700/900.
Flying Colours, a Canadian independent completion and refurbishment center, is knee-deep in cabin finish work on Challenger 850s and conversions of CRJ200 regional jets to executive/VIP use. It delivered its first Challenger 850 completion under contract to Bombardier in December, has six more in various stages of cabin finish work and is awaiting arrival of a neighth aircraft.
American Eagle Airlines plans to place nine first-class seats on each of its 25 Bombardier CRJ700 regional jets and ready them for use by July 2, the company announced last month. As part of the service, Eagle will offer complimentary first-class dining service.
