British Airways regional subsidiary BA CityFlyer expects to take delivery of its first Embraer E170 some time around September 10 and initially use the 70-seat regional jet for basic flight-crew familiarization and circuit training, according to flight-operations general manager Carl Phelan. Based at London City Airport (LCY), the airline plans to begin flying its first E170 in scheduled service to Edinburgh on September 28.

British Airways has delayed delivery of its first six Airbus A380s by an average of five months and the remaining six by an average of two years, the airline confirmed in a July 3 traffic release. Although it still expects first delivery of the big jets in 2012, under the terms of the new schedule the last airplane would not arrive until 2016.

New fractional ownership provider Jet Republic is putting a decidedly European imprint on the interiors and entire cabin layouts of its 110 new Learjet 60XRs, with the blessing of manufacturer Bombardier.

Drawing on the creative expertise of respected aircraft interior designer Jose Luiz Monteiro, Jet Republic said the cabins of its Learjet 60XRs will be crafted by Europeans for Europeans.

American Airlines expects its first Boeing 787s to arrive about a year later than originally planned due to last year’s machinists’ strike at Boeing, according to an SEC filing issued by the Dallas-based airline yesterday. Last year the carrier signed a firm order for 42 Boeing 787-9s, the first of which it expected to arrive in 2012 and the last in 2018.

Newly launched PrivateJet Share.com allows travelers to buy and sell individual seats on chartered aircraft. Individuals can use the site to post available seats for sale to pre-registered fellow members, with a 25-percent commission applying on each seat sold.

British Airways has ordered six Embraer E170s and five E190SRs for its wholly owned CityFlyer regional affiliate in a deal valued at some $376 million. The contract includes options on another three E190SRs, which, if converted, would raise the total value of the transaction to $489 million

UK regional airline Eastern Airways is “exactly on track, or slightly ahead” of projections for this year, according to COO Chris Holliday. Although he attributes continued profitability to tight financial controls, Eastern has “always been extremely focused on costs,” he said.
