In the fall, CAE SimuFlite is scheduled to have its first Citation X simulator ready for initial and recurrent pilot and mechanic training. The FAA level-D simulator, installed at SimuFlite’s Dallas facility, is equipped with a Honeywell SPZ-7600 digital autoflight control system, Universal UNS-1D flight management system with GPS, Enhanced GPWS, TCAS II and moving-map display.

 Canadian training specialist CAE SimuFlite (Booth No. 5813) announced at NBAA’07 that it has launched an expansion of its global training network by adding 16 new business jet training programs to its operations. And with this expansion, CAE will be offering training on 90 percent of all active and in-production business aircraft, the company said.

Montreal-based flight simulator manufacturer and operator CAE announced last month it will acquire flight-safety company Flightscape in a deal worth approximately C$18 million. Flightscape designs software that enables the study and interpretation of recorded flight data.

CAE SimuFlite has relocated its Sikorsky S-76 simulator to its new Northeast facility, near Morristown Airport, N.J., from its headquarters at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. SimuFlite’s Sikorsky S-76 simulator can be reconfigured between the S-76C+ and S-76B, and is the only S-76 level-D simulator to feature full-size chin windows, according to the company.

Eurocopter will install flight training devices, including six-axis, full-motion simulators for the EC 135 light twin, at its Donauwörth, Germany, and Dallas training facilities. Installation work should take place in the last quarter; certification is pegged for March, to JAR-STD2H level 3 and FAA Part 60 FTD level 6 standards. The simulators are being developed by CAE and Indra in cooperation with Eurocopter.

Montreal-based flight simulator manufacturer and training provider CAE inaugurated its newest business aviation training center in Morristown, N.J., on June 7. The well attended festivities kicked off with a high-flying aerial acrobat and featured a GIV simulator programmed to dance to big-band swing.

Pilot training specialist CAE here at the show on Tuesday announced the signature of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for a joint venture with the Airport Authority of India (AAI). Under the agreement, CAE will be involved in two training centers in the country. A combined 400 to 600 pilots should be licensed annually through these new schools.

Embraer and CAE are working toward establishing a joint venture to train Embraer 170/190 and Lineage 1000 pilots in the Americas. Embraer 170/190 pilot training is offered at CAE’s training center in Montreal. The agreement will come on top of that announced in October last year for Phenom 100 and 300 pilot and ground personnel training.

Canadian simulator builder CAE has introduced the third generation of its Simfinity cockpit procedures trainer, this one adding a so-called lesson plan studio for instructors and a virtual instructor feature that lets students create self-paced lessons.The Simfinity trainer consists of a number of LCD touch-screen displays positioned to replicate the cockpit of a given aircraft model.
