Telephonics Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Griffon Corp., has delivered its first production AN/APS-508, an advanced multi-mode imaging radar system (IRS), to the Canadian Department of National Defense (CDND) for installation on the CP140 Aurora long-range maritime patrol and surveillance aircraft.

Sikorsky Aircraft (Booth No. 1740) announced at Heli-Expo’09 the creation of Sikorsky Global Helicopters, a new business unit made up of the manufacturer’s commercial products, including the S-76, S-92 and H-92 platforms, as well as the Schweizer helicopter line.
Training pilots to fly combat jets is an expensive proposition. A proposal by European air chiefs to cut costs by combining forces has made only slow progress. However, two well established multinational training programs are readily available in North America. Meanwhile, “downloading” and “contractorization” are the prevailing buzzwords, as all air forces try to rationalize their flight training systems.
