A hardware issue with the Garmin G1000 avionics suite has forced at least two airplane manufacturers to halt production temporarily as the avionics manufacturer hastens to fix the issue. Nearly all of these projects are clean-sheet designs, typically absorbing more money and time than variants of existing designs and demonstrating the faith aircraft manufacturers have in this prospective new market.
