Peerless Electronics is now distributing the full line of Master Lock aviation safety products, including the new aircraft circuit breaker lockout/tagouts. The S2329 Master Lock aircraft circuit breaker lockout prevents accidental re-energizing of an electrical system by locking a circuit breaker in the “off” position. They assist in FAA and OSHA compliance for lockout/tagout (aircraft LOTO) systems. S2329’s universal fit accommodates long or short aircraft circuit breakers, with or without collars and with three- and six-prong power receptacles.

The FAA has issued an Airworthiness Directive for the AgustaWestland A109S requiring the modification of the electrical power distribution system to carry a higher electrical load. It was prompted by an electrical failure that resulted from inadequate functioning of the 35 amperes “Batt Bus” circuit breaker.

The FAA issued a draft policy memorandum that would change circuit-breaker layouts in aircraft electrical systems, as well as how pilots deal with tripped circuit breakers. Comments are due by September 12. Principal changes would be for manufacturers to group and identify essential and non-essential circuit breakers in Part 23 aircraft and to publish flight manual guidance about when to reset circuit breakers.

The pilot, in aligning the airplane with the centerline, experienced an uncontrolled left and right rolling motion.
Hawker Beechcraft 99, Moline, Ill., Feb. 18, 2008–No one was injured during the in-flight fire, which the Safety Board attributed to the arcing of the resistor and silicone-controlled rectifier in the flap control circuit. The pilot of the Suburban Air Freight cargo flight “smelled electrical smoke and saw flames behind the power quadrant,” while descending to land at Quad City International Airport (MLI).
