Carson Helicopter Services, Sagem Avionics and Vector Aerospace will jointly celebrate a supplemental type certificate issued to Carson for a five-display glass cockpit on its Sikorsky S-61 fleet at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Static Display No. 25. The “Discover the New Sikorsky S-61 Tour” event will include VIP tours of the helicopter immediately following the celebration.

Appareo Systems of Fargo, N.D., and Eurocopter plan to unveil today a flight-data monitoring system scheduled to be certified for the AS 350 B2/B3 by the end of this year or in the first quarter of next year. Called Alerts Vision 1000, it is the latest extension of Appareo’s Alerts (aircraft logging and event recording for training and safety) product line.

Marcus Schrenker, a 38-year-old financial manager under investigation by the SEC, apparently attempted to fake his own death on Sunday by parachuting from his Piper Meridian before the turboprop single crashed at about 9:15 p.m. in a swampy area near Milton, Fla., according to an FAA preliminary report.

JetTech, a Colorado specialist in designing and obtaining STCs for RVSM and panel modernization, is at Booth No. 4960 to publicize its glass-cockpit STC for pre-serial number 275 Cessna Citation 500s as well as RVSM retrofit certifications for the Piper Cheyenne 400LS and Cheyenne IIIA.

Universal Avionics has landed a deal with Hawker Beechcraft to provide flat-panel glass display and flight management system upgrades in the Hawker 700B. The retrofit package will replace existing flight and engine analog instruments with Universal’s UNS-1Fw FMS units, EFI-890R flat-panel displays and application server units (ASU) linked to UCDT-III electronic-flight-bag displays.
