The Dallas Executive Airport (RBD) has been selected as the 2004 Reliever Airport of the Year by the Texas Department of Transportation. The award was presented at the 22nd annual Texas aviation conference held recently in the state capital, Austin. Dallas Executive, formerly known as Redbird, is a 1,000-acre facility about 10 miles (18 minutes’ drive time, according to MapQuest) south of downtown Dallas.

Beginning this month, Cutter Aviation will assume FBO operations from WingsPoint Aviation Services at McKinney Airport in McKinney, Texas. The facility is the seventh for the family-operated chain. Will Cutter, CEO, said, “This is a strategic move for Cutter that expands our FBO ‘footprint’ throughout the Southwest.”

Aeros Aviation of McKinney, Texas, purchased McKinney Aerospace, a modification and service center also based in McKinney. Aeros Aviation is a new company that has developed in-flight entertainment, airborne communications and high-technology biometric airport security products. Aeros Aviation president Andrew Eros and executive v-p Randy Haler replaced McKinney Aerospace’s former owners, Oscar Smith and David Kitchings.

Aftermarket supply chain specialist Aviall (Hall 4, Stand G19) is to double the size of its central warehouse facility and headquarters staff building in Dallas, Texas. The existing facilities, covering 325,000 sq ft, were opened in 2001. By next January a new 75,000-square foot building and an additional 250,000 sq ft of warehouse space should be complete.

McKinney Aerospace has been designated an authorized GE service center for engine work. Located on Collin County Regional Airport in McKinney, Texas, the company now has the capacity to perform in-house inspections on GE’s CF34, which powers the Challenger 601 and 604.

Aeros Aviation, which owns completion and refurb shop McKinney Aerospace, is building a new corporate hangar at Collin County Regional Airport in McKinney, Texas, north of Dallas. The hangar will enclose 12,500 sq ft, and another 5,000 sq ft of office space will be available for corporate flight department and charter tenants.
