Flight-testing is complete on Blackhawk Modifications’ Cessna 208A Caravan XP42A upgrade and FAA STC approval is imminent, according to the company. The upgrade provides the same operational advantages as the 208B Grand Caravan.
FalconBroadcast, an airborne health monitoring service that provides real-time notification of in-flight events, is now available as an option for all Falcon 900 and Falcon 2000s equipped with the EASy cockpit. In-service aircraft can have the service activated in an estimated one hour of downtime. FalconBroadcast entered into service in June on the Falcon 7X.
Spectrum Aeromed is displaying one of its medical interiors in a Lloyd Helicopters Sikorsky S-76 with Spectrum’s 2200 “short box” life support system at the Lloyd exhibit (Static No. C35). In addition, the Lloyd machine is equipped with a 1461 Med Wall, SLA locks and a 1203 stretcher. “The S-76 install from Lloyd Helicopters is only one of many configurations and customizable options we offer,” said Spectrum v-p Ricky Reno.
Phoenix Heliparts, with 1st Source Bank and Southwest Aviation Insurance Group, plans to offer financing and insurance options on its future MD 500 helicopter sales. Phoenix Heliparts (Booth No. C1527) aims for its Mesa, Ariz. headquarters to become the one-stop shop for MD 500 purchases by “providing a total service experience and simplifying the process of restoring and upgrading MD 500s.”
Phoenix Heliparts president Tina Cannon said the goal is “to reduce the challenges that buyers face when undergoing a custom helicopter restoration.”
Helicopter service provider Associated Air Group is launching a new customer referral program. Existing clients can earn flight refers by introducing new clients to AAG.
AAG has more than 20 years experience providing helicopter and fixed-wing charter flights, fractional ownership programs and helicopter maintenance services for locations at Teterboro, New York and Philadelphia, and it operates and owns a Part 145-approved Sikorsky certified repair center at Dutchess County Airport, New York.
The Sikorsky Innovations Entrepreneurial Challenge, now in its second year, saw a significant increase in entries over last year, a sign that the competition is gaining interest among its target audience: entrepreneurial companies looking “to understand some of the toughest issues facing the vertical flight community and to identify their technology as relevant to one or more of these issues.” The Challenge is open to any small company with revenue under $5 million, including newly formed and pre-revenue entities.

Lou Martin & Associates of San Antonio, Texas, is offering three new window shade styles for business aircraft. One of these is a bulkhead shade system that can close off a cabin compartment to allow greater privacy, or open to permit a feeling of roominess. The shade can be customized to include artwork or a company logo and comes in a variety of sizes.
At the Aircraft Interiors Expo, Lou Martin & Associates introduced three new window shade styles. A dual mechanical shade features both blackout fabric and a sheer fabric, allowing the passenger to see out but block UV rays and heat, yet block light when complete darkness is desired. The E-3 shade incorporates an electrically dimmable window shade, integrated with the pleated blind for complete darkness.
Ibis Aerospace expects to have its second prototype (S/N 003) flying on November 2 for a demonstration to the board of directors, as long as the weather cooperates in Prague. The single turboprop’s Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-42A was being tested last month in preparation for the flight. Earlier this year the company said the airplane would fly in February, then June and then September.
