The strike by ramp workers at Frankfurt Airport, which began last week, continues to deteriorate and could soon become a complete work stoppage at Europe’s third-busiest hub. The GdF union representing ground workers, has asked its members in the control tower to walk out Wednesday morning in sympathy with the 200 union members already walking a picket line.

The SNPL, the French chapter of the ALPA pilot union, has called for a new strike among EMS helicopter pilots, claiming it is not satisfied with either the proposed work duration rules or salary negotiations. After a 10-day strike that lasted from December 24 to January 2, the union called another work stoppage from January 13 to February 1. These actions follow previous strikes last summer.

The two sides in the Sikorsky factory strike are no closer to resolving their differences after nearly a week of tense picketing. About 3,600 production workers at Sikorsky factories in Connecticut and Florida walked out last Monday, blaming a contract proposal that would force them to pay more for medical benefits.
