PS Engineering has added “IntelliAudio” dimensional sound to its new PMA450 audio panel. Based on research conducted by the U.S. Air Force’s Wright Patterson Air Force Laboratory and licensed by PS Engineering, IntelliAudio allows the pilot to select where various audio inputs will sound as though they are coming from in the headset. For example, com 1 and 2 can be set in any of nine separate positions, so each audio source sounds separate and unique.

Partsbase, an online business-to-business parts locator service for the aviation, aerospace and defense industries, has acquired PMA Parts Finder (PPF). For the past 10 years the PMA Parts Finder computer program has been locating PMA parts and their holders. The output of the program can be directed to screen view or printed lists, machine-readable data files or, in the case of PMA holders, to address labels or mail merge data documents.

The Drake Group’s FAA certification training programs for managers and engineers involving TC/STC/PMA and TSO categories, previously presented at companies on-site or at Drake’s base in Las Vegas, now are also available on its Web site, company president Robert Honzik announced at NBAA 2002. Baker Electronics has introduced a miniature multi-region DVD player that measures 2.5 in. high, 7.25 in. wide and 8 in. deep. Multi-region means that the unit can play DVDs from all parts of the world, as well as audio CDs, video CDs, so-called super video CDs and MP3 CDs. Dubbed the Mini-MRDVD-DB, the unit has been “ruggedized” for durability in aircraft cabins, according to Baker.

Rosen Aviation introduced an upgrade to its moving-map display and a new DVD player at the Aircraft Interiors Expo 2007 in April.

The RosenViewLX features a solid-state hard drive to eliminate vibration issues, a larger hard drive, a custom splash-screen and easier software customization, including languages, aircraft icons, points of interests and colors. The upgrade is optional on several aircraft.
