Emirates-CAE Flight Training (ECFT, Stand C615) announced yesterday that it signed a contract with Athens-based Gainjet Aviation to provide Gulfstream G450 and G550 and Bombardier Global Express pilot training at the training provider's Dubai facility.
CAE has announced recent business covering civil and military flight and mission simulators, as well as other equipment and services. The company said Bombardier Aerospace, ATR, Vietnam Airlines and a U.S.-based airline have ordered four full-flight simulators (FFSs) worth just over $52.5 million.
While best known for its comprehensive aviation training courses and its lineup of flight simulation devices, CAE has moved further upstream into the aircraft design process with new modeling and simulator products. The Canada-based company’s augmented engineering environment (AEE) is a suite of software and hardware products that will assist aircraft manufacturers with the design and systems integration of prototypes.
CAE and Bell Helicopter announced here yesterday that Bell is providing aircraft systems and performance data and technical support for the Bell 412 training programs that CAE will begin offering this summer in Mexico and Bangalore, India.
CAE of Saint-Laurent, Quebec, is showing the first example of its newest simulator line, the CAE 3000 series designed specifically for light and medium helicopters at Heli-Expo. Configured for the Eurocopter AS350, the Level 7 flight training device, which can also accommodate motion to qualify it as a simulator, is on display at CAE’s booth (No. 2045).
AirAsia pilot cadets are to train under a new multi-crew pilot license (MPL) program to be run by Canadian company CAE. The 56-week program will start in March and should lead to the award of Transport Canada MPL licenses to the cadets. They will also gain authorization from the Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia before entering AirAsia’s initial operating experience program for Airbus A320 first officers.
CAE is offering a new professional troubleshooting skills (PTS) tool for training maintenance technicians that offers hands-on practice. The instructor-led PTS course teaches maintenance technicians to isolate, identify and fix suspected problems more quickly, thereby reducing the cost of repair and getting the aircraft back in the air sooner.
Robert Brown, president and CEO of Montreal-based pilot training provider and simulator manufacturer CAE, has announced his retirement effective at the end of this month. He will be succeeded by executive vice president and COO Marc Parent. Brown will remain with the company in an advisory capacity until the end of the year.
CAE on Wednesday announced that its president and CEO, Robert Brown, will retire on September 30. CAE’s board of directors has appointed Marc Parent, CAE’s executive vice president and COO, as Brown’s successor. Brown has agreed to serve as an advisor until the end of December.
CAE has sold two full-flight simulators to Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Co., the investment arm of the Kingdom of Bahrain and owner of national carrier Gulf Air. The 7000 Series A330/A340 convertible FFS and 5000 Series A320 FFS, both with the Tropos-6000 visual system, will support the training of Gulf Air pilots. CAE will also provide a suite of support services over the next 10 years.
