Eclipse Aviation has selected Vancouver-based Harbour Air to be the first Eclipse 500 authorized service center in North America. Harbour Air will provide MRO service for the aircraft in western Canada. The deal leaves open the opportunity for the company to expand into eastern Canada and Alaska. Harbour Air will also provide service to the Northwest U.S. until Eclipse establishes a service center network in the U.S.

Phoenix Rising Aviation, an 18-month-old maintenance firm at Drake Field in Fayetteville, Ark., expects this month to receive its first RVSM STC for a Falcon 20, with group approval planned by year-end. Eclipse Aviation announced the opening of its third service center during a ceremony at Albany International Airport in late February.

The 42,800-sq-ft facility encompasses eight maintenance bays in 30,000 sq ft of hangar space and also houses storage, tooling and customer service areas. Construction on the $8 million facility began in October 2005 and it received operational approval and certification from the FAA on February 25.

Reflecting on a “tough year” for Innovative Solutions & Support, company officials nonetheless said they are confident that the Avio NG cockpit for the Eclipse 500 will be certified before year-end. An ongoing software development delay quashed any hopes of the Exton, Pa. company receiving payments from Eclipse for flat-panel displays and other Avio NG hardware this fiscal year, resulting in revenue targets falling short of expectations.

Thunder Avionics in St. Louis has teamed with Flight Test Associates to develop an RVSM package for Falcon 10s and 20s. For the Falcon 10, the original autopilot will be used in addition to IS&S replacement air-data controllers and altimeters.
