At the J.P. Morgan Aviation, Transportation and Industrials Conference yesterday, leaders from Bombardier, Cessna and Embraer provided summaries of their companies’ standing. Following are some “takeaways” from the event. “Bombardier: The switch to the Learjet 70/75 and Challenger 350 should help Bombardier shore up business jet pricing. Bombardier completed high-speed taxi testing on the Learjet 85, so first flight is very close. The advantage of composites here is primarily lower costs with fewer parts.
Corporate Flight Management
Component Control, an MRO and logistics software developer, announced at EBACE that Corporate Flight Management (CFM) of Smyrna, Tennessee, has selected its Quantum Control software solution for its maintenance and repair operations. CFM operates 35 aircraft and offers aircraft charter, management and MRO services for both the private and commercial aviation markets.
BAE Systems Aircraft Services Group is looking to build on the success of the deal it forged at the NBAA show last year, when it announced a lease agreement for 10 pre-owned Jetstream 32 twin-turboprops to Corporate Aircraft Partners (CAP). The Cartersville, Ga.-based operator has just received the sixth aircraft for its fractional-leasing program. The 19-seat commuters were converted to 10- to 12-seat configurations for the new service.
Smyrna, Tenn.-based Corporate Flight Management (CFM) has expanded its maintenance division’s capacity by moving it from two relatively small hangars to a complex across the airport that provides an 80-percent increase in hangar space and five times more office space.
BAE’s Jetstream regional airliner family enjoyed a successful year in 2004, delivering 25 turboprops to lease customers, and expecting to achieve its 2005 target of 30 more.
