PremiAir opened its new maintenance center for Hawker Beechcraft aircraft at Oxford Airport. The operation has relocated from the UK group’s Blackbushe base near London and now occupies the former CSE Aviation hangar which has been upgraded to the tune of almost $1.5 million.

Ocean Sky is to open a new FBO at London Luton Airport on March 30. The UK company has signed a lease on the facility formerly occupied by Harrods Aviation before it developed its current facilities at the airport. This is situated on Luton’s south ramp and is immediately parallel to the runway.

British air traffic management provider NATS has urged the country’s Civil Aviation Authority to give fast-track approval to a change in the standard instrument departures (SIDs) at London City Airport. The change, which could be adopted this summer, will formalize a wider initial turn after takeoff before aircraft rejoin the existing tracks.

In October, PremiAir will move into a newly refurbished hangar at Oxford Airport near London. PremiAir announced in May a plan to move its fixed-wing maintenance base from company headquarters at Blackbushe Airport in Surrey to Oxford because of lack of growth capacity at Blackbushe and the airport’s relatively short runway.

The UK Royal Air Force mounted the biggest flypast seen in Europe for many years over RAF Fairford, Gloucestershire, last Friday. On the ground, the Queen presented new colors to the RAF and the RAF Regiment with due ceremony, to mark the service’s 90th anniversary. England’s Oxford Airport will be the new home of PremiAir’s fixed-wing maintenance operations. The company’s Hawker Beechcraft authorized service center will make the move next September from PremiAir’s headquarters on Blackbushe Airport, Surrey. The Blackbushe facility will become a dedicated rotary-wing maintenance base.
