For decades, designers have created cup holders with the idea that, like military uniforms, one size fits all, with roughly the same results. One size fits almost nothing. Cups and glasses that are smaller tip over; those with a handle simply won’t fit. And with designers’ recent penchant for odd shapes, such as the square Fiji water bottle, it is a game of trying to fit the square peg in the round hole.
Custom Cupholders of North East, Md., has introduced a new line of cupholders designed specifically for the luxury market, including business aircraft. According to company president Jim Moffett, the lowly cupholder should reflect the same elegance found in the rest of the cabin. Moffett said Custom Cupholders can provide the unfinished satin aluminum for plating by the OEM.
