For the past four days, the skies over EBACE have been gray, but the overcast and rain have not dampened the spirits of John Rosanvallon. The Dassault Falcon president and CEO has been watching the French business jet manufacturer’s already fat order book grow fatter still here at EBACE and he is forecasting continued demand.
Dassault Falcon 50
Here yesterday Dassault introduced a new version of the Falcon 900 large business jet–the 900LX, which features a 4,800-nm range thanks to the addition of winglets.
Dassault today introduced the Falcon 900LX, a new version of the large business jet that features 4,800-nm NBAA IFR range thanks to the addition of winglets. With a 300-nm improvement in range, the $41 million Falcon 900LX is slated to replace the 900EX when it enters service in 2010. The all-composite winglets, which were originally created for the Falcon 2000LX, call for more wing reinforcement on the 900LX due to higher wing loading.
Premier Aircraft, a joint venture between West Star Aviation and Yankee Pacific Aerospace, has named Midcoast Aviation as an authorized distributor for 50Dash4 performance upgrades for Falcon 50 business jets. According to Premier, demand for the upgrade is accelerating as performance guarantees have been regularly exceeded in operational use.
Remote-controlled model specialist Aviation Design has started offering 1/7th model kits of the Dassault Falcon 7X business jet and expects many of the customers to be pilots of full-size aircraft. EBACE Convention News was able to see the E10,000 ($15,500) model flying at Lausanne airport, on the north side of Lake Geneva, on Sunday.

At its Saint-Cloud headquarters near Paris, Dassault began presenting its 2001 results with military precision at 9 a.m. sharp on March 6. This was almost ironic as the manufacturer, still famous for its Mirage and Rafale fighters, confirmed its main business is now Falcon business jets, which accounted for 76 percent of last year’s revenues.
G. Edison Allen, chief pilot and director of aviation for Dassault Falcon Jet and a well known figure in business aviation, died on April 25. The following address was given by John Rosanvallon, president of Dassault Falcon Jet, at Allen’s funeral in Eastman, Ga., on May 5:
French charter operator Unijet will further expand its Paris Le Bourget-based fleet next year when it takes delivery of a pair of Cessna Citation CJ2s. Having been exclusively a Dassault Falcon operator throughout its 35-year history, Unijet turned to the U.S. manufacturer after failing to persuade Dassault to offer a new light business jet.
