Dassault Falcon expects to deliver 20 Falcon business aircraft a year to China over the next five years, and confirmed that it is to open Dassault Falcon Aircraft Services-China by the end of June in partnership with Shanghai Hawker Pacific.

Jet Aviation is discontinuing completions of Dassault Falcons at its Basel, Switzerland facility, after the center had outfitted more than 130 Falcons under contract with Dassault Aviation, due to lack of demand, according to Jet Aviation spokesman Heinz Aebi.
Jet Aviation has been doing cabin completion work for the French OEM since 1996, including the Falcon 50, 900, 2000 and 7X models. According to Aebi, the 132ndFalcon business jet completed by Jet Aviation was recently delivered two weeks ahead of schedule, “with no open delivery items.”

Dassault Falcon’s newest satellite service station has opened at West Palm Beach Airport in Florida. DAS–West Palm Beach, an FAA approved facility, is certified to perform “A” inspections up to the “4A+” level on the Falcon 50, Falcon 2000, Falcon 900 and Falcon 7X. EASA approval is expected within the next 30 days. In addition to the service station, a Falcon AOG “GoTeam” is also located at the facility.

Crane Aerospace & Electronics will be offering an STC for its SmartStem wireless tire pressure system for the Dassault Falcon 20 and Falcon 50 starting next year. The STC retrofit kits will be available exclusively through Dassault Falcon Jet. Crane is in the process of certifying SmartStem on additional business, regional and large commercial aircraft.

Dassault Falcon is taking advantage of the current business jet production lull to implement more efficient production procedures, unveil new modularized interiors, continue work on its SMS new jet program and perhaps forge alliances with other OEMs as a way to expand its market footprint into new aircraft categories. Like most other business jet OEMs, the delivery numbers for Dassault year-to-date have been less than robust. Measured in dollars for the first six months of 2011 they were down 44 percent from the same period in 2010, representing an aggregate value of $846.5 million this year versus $1.854 billion a year ago. The scorecard: 19 aircraft delivered through June versus 45 for the first six months of 2010. On a positive note, for the first half of the year the company booked 22 net new (minus cancellation) Falcon orders.
