Dassault Falcon announced two appointments within its customer service organization. Geoff Chick has been appointed to the position of vice president of customer service, where he will oversee the customer experience in the Western Hemisphere. Bob Sundin has been appointed president of Dassault Aircraft Services, the company-owned service center network. Both Sundin and Chick will report to Carlos Brana, senior vice president of Teterboro operations.
Dassault Falcon plans to launch its super-midsize (SMS) trijet on October 22 at the NBAA Convention in Las Vegas. In July last year, the first SMS parts were being manufactured for testing purposes at Dassault’s Argenteuil factory northwest of Paris.

Activist investor The Children’s Investment Fund Management (TCI) in the UK has renewed its calls for EADS to sell its 46-percent stake, worth more than €4 billion, in Dassault Aviation.
The Dassault Falcon 5X will succeed the Falcon 2000, according to a document the French government released this morning. The new Falcon is part of the next generation of aircraft mentioned in the “new industrial France” project, introduced by French president François Hollande.
The fleet of Dassault Falcon jets in Russia and the CIS countries has doubled over the past five years, with more than 60 Falcon jets now in operation, according to Gilles Gautier, vice president of sales for Dassault Aviation. Seven new aircraft were delivered in the region in the first half of 2013 alone, accounting for 15 percent of Dassault Falcon’s worldwide deliveries.
Duncan Aviation recently delivered its 56th pair of Aviation Partners winglets installed on Dassault Falcon 900s and 2000s. Morrie Harris’s 15-person airframe team at Duncan Aviation’s Battle Creek, Mich. facility performed 36 of the mods. Team Harris has more than five years of experience installing winglets, and Duncan Aviation has several other teams in Battle Creek as well as its Lincoln, Neb. facility with experience completing the modification.
The FAA has issued an airworthiness directive–AD 2013-16-02, effective August 21–for the Dassault Falcon 7X after a runway excursion investigation identified a failure of the aircraft’s nose landing-gear position feedback assembly. The unit was found to produce an incorrect angle signal that resulted in an uncommanded nosewheel deflection that could not be controlled by the pilot.
Brazil’s ANAC aviation authority has granted a supplemental type certificate (STC) to StandardAero for installation of the Primus Elite avionics suite developed by Honeywell (Stand 1004) for the Dassault Falcon 900C and Falcon 900EX.
The approval by Brazilian aviation authorities follows receipt of an STC from Transport Canada. Approval by the European Aviation Safety Agency was expected just prior to the opening of LABACE 2013.
Over the next six months, Dassault will be expanding the workforce at its Sorocaba service center in Brazil. The São Paulo-area facility, which is its first company-owned service center outside France and the U.S., opened four years ago, in June 2009, and holds authorizations from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and the European Aviation Safety Agency, as well as from aviation authorities in Brazil, Argentina and Bermuda.
