Airline travelers on Delta, Northwest and other airlines operating under bankruptcy protection might face longer lines, delays and fuller and less frequent flights, but it’s “business as usual” at Delta’s business jet charter arm, Delta AirElite, according to a spokesman. “There will be no affect on our ability to serve our charter, membership or aircraft management customers,” he said.

Delta AirElite Business Jets is celebrating its 20th year of business aircraft charter and management, and remains the only business jet provider owned by a major airline. The Cincinnati-based company has been in business since 1984, originally as part of regional airline carrier Comair and then as a subsidiary of Delta Air Lines following its acquisition of Comair in January 2000.

Jet Personales (Booth No. 957) is a newcomer to Spain’s growing business aviation industry and it claims to be the country’s first executive charter firm that owns all the aircraft it operates. Launched in December 2004, the operator, which is the exclusive sales representative of Bombardier Business Aircraft in Spain, is based at Madrid’s Torrejon Airport where it has an FBO and a fleet of five aircraft.
Some 10,383 business jets will be built over the next 10 years, including 2,310 very light jets, 100 business jetliners and 196 business jet versions of regional jets, according to the 16th annual Business Jet Overview from the Teal Group.
Delta AirElite, the Cincinnati-based executive charter and management company that is a wholly owned subsidiary of Delta Air Lines, had a record year, according to president and CEO Michael Green, but faces the prospect of being sold by the airline. The parent company has been operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection since September 14 and has reportedly lost $11 billion over the last four years.
