Signature Flight Support launched its sixth Signature TechnicAir yesterday, at Washington Dulles International Airport, and announced the certification of its newest facility as an Embraer authorized service center for the full line of Embraer business jets. Signature Flight Support recently purchased the assets of Sun Aircraft Services, which was a long-term MRO provider and tenant at Signature’s Dulles location before the acquisition.

According to a U.S. District judge’s opinion last month, Landow Aviation Limited Partnership, which spent $37 million to build Dulles Jet Center on 19 acres subleased from neighbor Signature Flight Support, was never permitted to service transient aircraft or otherwise act as an FBO.
Atlanta-based Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA) last month launched a new code-share partnership with United Airlines covering flights into and out of Chicago O’Hare and Washington Dulles International Airports. ASA began the service with a February 11 flight between O’Hare and Columbus, Ohio. It now flies eight weekday flights from O’Hare and 15 weekday flights from Dulles using eight newly refurbished 50-seat Bombardier CRJ200s.
While heavy snowfall early last month limited aircraft operations at airports up and down the U.S. eastern seaboard, the Washington, D.C.-area airports were the hardest hit. Reagan National Airport recorded 17.8 inches of snow on February 5 and 6, while outlying areas saw more than two feet. Manassas (Va.) Reagan National Airport recorded 16.4 inches of snow on Friday and into Saturday, and reports from outlying areas were in excess of two feet of the white stuff.
Dulles Jet Center, an Arcadia Aviation company, is providing aircraft maintenance services on Dulles International Airport (IAD). It also offers aircraft management and charter sales. The facility is an FAA Part 145 repair station.
