The Flight Safety Foundation, in conjunction with the National Business Aviation Association, has released a call for papers for presentation at next May’s Business Aviation Safety Summit in Weston, Fla. Potential presenters should submit an abstract of up to 200 words on a topic relevant to business aviation safety, along with a CV, by Sept. 5, 2014. Mecaer’s Bell 429 interior

Mecaer Aviation Group (MAG) of Borgomanero, Italy, is unveiling here at Heli-Expo its new VVIP interior concept for the Bell 429, branded as the Bell 429 MAGnificent. A full-scale mockup of the four-place interior is on display at MAG’s booth (No. 6438). The interior features MAG’s proprietary Silens noise- and vibration-abatement system and hand-stitched premium leather seats and is compliant with all regulatory standards. The interior will be available as an option for new Bell 429s and may be available as a retrofit in existing aircraft, according to MAG.

BizjetMobile has introduced the new Grrrilla Inmarsat-based portable communications device, which allows airborne users to access the Internet and send text messages and emails from almost anywhere in the world. Unlike its current Iridium-based systems, BizjetMobile’s Grrrilla enables users to download email attachments or surf the Internet for as long as needed.

Hilton Software’s WingX Pro 7 moving-map iPad app is now integrated with the X-Plane flight simulator software, so X-Plane users can fly with WingX Pro 7 and view all of the WingX features during a simulated flight. This includes the position of the simulated aircraft depicted on WingX’s moving-map and geo-referenced approach plates. Additionally, X-Plane users can try out WingX Pro 7 features such as synthetic vision with pitch and bank, without needing a separate AHRS device.

“The Block Aircraft Registration Request [Barr] program doesn’t really provide privacy; it’s just a barrier,” Dustin Hoffman, president of Los Angeles-based IT engineering firm Exigent Systems, told AIN. Hoffman, who has a private pilot certificate and flies a piston single for his business, set out to prove his point at the Defcon 20 computer security conference last month in Las Vegas.

The SkymasterTX digital video downlink transmitter from Integrated Microwave Technologies (IMT) should be interesting to military and government purchasers who require secure real-time downloading of video imagery.

IMT, a business unit of the Vitec Group, is at Booth No. 7317 to display and explain the lightweight, full-featured digital video transmitter built to address aircraft secure encryption downlink requirements. The transmitter features ARINC mounting, which allows easy moving of units from one aircraft to another.

The airborne products division of Teac announced the availability of new “plug and play” digital file servers for use with the company’s in-flight entertainment systems.  The AE-1600SS digital audio server and VE-801SS video server can store and replay up to four times the digital content of tape-based units, Teac claimed.
