Monarch Aircraft Restoration, a Part 145 Repair Station providing interior refurbishment and repair throughout Southern California, recently expanded its capabilities.
Jeppesen has launched its Flight Operations Service to support operators who are constrained by limited resources. The unit will deliver complete dispatch services intended to appeal to those companies who want to remain focused on running healthy operations without making large investments in dispatch and flight operations support departments.
Gulfstream Aerospace announced that its Gulfstream IV-SP has achieved a 99.6-percent dispatch reliability rate over the past year, while the GV dispatch rate is now exceeding 99 percent. The fleet of GIVs, GIV-SPs and GVs comprises some 551 in-service aircraft, and the GIV fleet alone recently passed a cumulative total of 1.5-million in-flight hours and exceeded a fleet total of 770,000 landings.
Fractional aircraft ownership operations, as well as charter operations, would be regulated under FAR Part 121, if the Airline Dispatcher Federation (ADF) has its way. The Washington trade group, which represents about 1,100 airline dispatchers, lamented that the notice of proposed rulemaking establishing fractional-ownership operations under Part 91 doesn’t require dispatchers.
According to those who know, anywhere from about $5,000 to $10,000 a year more for the dispatcher.
Kristi Ivey is the flight operations supervisor at the Home Depot Aviation Department at Fulton County Airport in Atlanta. She is also a licensed dispatcher. Working for her are two schedulers and four administrators. She is also the vice chair of the NBAA schedulers & dispatchers committee.
“We take care of everything, and then we put out the fires,” said Ivey, who has been in the Home Depot flight department for six years.
Interest continues to grow in the formation of regional scheduler and dispatcher groups under the NBAA umbrella. Schedulers and dispatchers in New England and eastern New York are interested in forming a regional S&D group. According to Joe Celentano, who with his brother John owns and manages Rudy’s, “We are about to add a 900-sq-ft refrigerator to supplement the operation.” The facility, on the grounds of Westchester County Airport, has also extended its hours and is now serving clients 24/7/365.
Tampa, Fla.-based Private Jet Mech’s 24-hour, on-call maintenance service for business jet operators is nowcapable of dispatching to more than 100 U.S. airports. The company provides on-site maintenance services through a nationwide network of on-call mobile maintenance providers.
