An insolvency administrator has signed a letter of intent with Germany’s RUAG Aerospace Services to take over from bankrupt AvCraft the Dornier 328 type certificate and product support. While production of the Do-328 regional jet and the Envoy executive version ceased several months ago, 140 employees remain at AvCraft, also in Germany, to provide customer support and aircraft maintenance.
UK executive charter firm Bookajet is rebranding its operation under the name Club328 to emphasize its new fleet of AvCraft Dornier 328Jets and Envoy 3s. Last month, the Southampton-based company took delivery of the first of the eight aircraft it has ordered. All will feature a Club328 logo.
German authorities released AvCraft Aviation chairman Ben Bartel from a Munich jail last month, some two weeks after sending him there on suspicion of tax evasion. Munich attorney general Ruediger Hödl told AIN that although he had yet to indict Bartel, the former Fairchild Dornier principle owner remains a suspect and could face formal charges in a matter of “weeks or months.”
UK Corporate Jet Services, parent company of Southampton-based executive charter operator Club328, has purchased bankrupt regional aircraft manufacturer AvCraft Aerospace. The new owner will not be resuming aircraft production, but will instead run the former property of U.S. support and completions firm AvCraft Aviation as a support organization for existing Dornier 328 operators under the name 328 Support Services.
UK operator Club328 has launched a block-charter program called SkyClub. The entry-level package gives customers 10 hours in six-seat Raytheon Premier Is for £30,000 ($52,500).
In December, Club328 bought four low-time pre-owned Premier Is from Raytheon Aircraft. The first two had entered service by the middle of last month and the other two were due to join the Southampton-based operation by the end of this month.
UK operator Club328 has devised a new way to market charter flights through its new SkyBond program. Customers hand over £1 million ($1.75 million) to be put in an escrow-protected bank account in Club328’s name for six years. Club328 gets the interest earned over this time and the customer gets 25 flight hours each year (150 hours total) in one of the company’s Raytheon Premier Is.
Corporate Jet Services, parent company of UK executive charter operator Club 328, is close to acquiring the Myrtle Beach, S.C. aircraft maintenance facilities of bankrupt Dornier 328 regional jet maker AvCraft Aerospace.
According to a spokesperson for the company, which last December acquired AvCraft’s European assets and several 328Jet airframes, the deal will likely be completed by next month.
