Snap-on Industrial has developed a new line of toolboxes designed for rolling on rough ramps, over hangar tracks and back and forth to flight lines. The new Flight Line Roll Cabinet series come in five- or six-drawer configurations. The “Phantom Caster” wheels feature a kingpin-less design to prevent possible FOD and solid rubber wheels to absorb shock. The cabinet top includes a wraparound stainless-steel cap that excludes moisture and dirt. A keyless T-bar mechanism allows locking of drawers for movement without a key, also to prevent FOD.
Most of us involved in flight operations are familiar with the multi-drawer toolboxes on rollers common to most hangars and repair shops. But a talking tool box? Snap-on Industrial showed a big blue one at NBAA’s 64th Annual Meeting and Convention in Las Vegas.
Most mechanics are familiar with the Snap-on tool truck that arrives weekly at the maintenance hangar, dispensing not only shiny and traditional wrenches and sockets but also technologically sophisticated products to help facilitate aircraft maintenance.
