Eurocopter has unveiled plans for a new rotor-blade factory in Dugny, near Paris Le Bourget Airport, to open in 2014. When the new facility is up and running, the 800 employees at the existing blade production lines in neighboring La Courneuve will move to Dugny, where they will be joined by some research engineers who will relocate from EADS Innovation Works’ offices in Suresnes (west of Paris).

EADS has backed a pledge to launch a big push to strengthen its presence in new markets around the world, while seeking to avoid costly engineering and planning errors, by signing a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) on research collaboration with Russia’s Skolkovo Foundation. Jean Botti, EADS chief technical officer, and Viktor Vekselberg, executive president of the Skolkovo Foundation, signed the agreement in Paris on March 2.

A master research collaboration agreement signed here yesterday between EADS Innovation Works Singapore and the Singapore Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) aims to build on a joint cryptography project completed in November 2007.

Two years ago EADS decided to tap Singapore’s strengths in science and technology by shifting part of its research and development effort here. Today, its investment in the Singapore Research and Technology Center (SRTC) appears to be reaping dividends, and the facility is now conducting work in four scientific areas, having reached a staff of 15 and an annual budget of approximately $1.7 million.
