Demand for charter flights appears to be heading upwards this month, according to the latest projections from online charter portal Avinode. The group’s forward-looking demand index for the next month stood at 114.23 earlier this week–almost 21 points above the month-ago level and more than 14 points above where it was 12 months ago.

Demand for charter flights anticipated during August showed a marked trailing off compared with a strong showing for July, according to the latest data from online charter portal Avinode. On August 1, the company’s forward-looking demand index  stood at 128.88, almost 27 points down on July 1, but just over 30 points higher than it had been 12 months earlier on Aug. 1, 2010.

Forecast demand for executive charter flights over the next 30 days is slightly down from a month ago, according to the latest data from online charter portal Avinode. As of November 1, the forward-looking demand index produced by the Sweden-based group was 92.83, about 2 points below where it stood on October 1. However, this month’s demand index is still about 32 points ahead of where it was 12 months ago.

Recent data from Web-based executive charter portal Avinode shows mixed fortunes for charter operators worldwide, but there is no avoiding the overall picture that market conditions are still difficult even during what are generally the busiest months of the year. Avinode’s demand index on September 1 stood at 61.29–16.5 percent down on the 73.46 figure for August 1 and 29.5 percent down on the 86.96 logged on July 1.
