Lufthansa Bombardier Aviation Services (LBAS) and tier-one cabin components supplier OHS Aviation Services have delivered their largest-ever single aircraft maintenance and refurbishment project.

The job, for an unidentified Asian client, included the first installation of Honeywell’s new Ovation Select cabin management system on a Bombardier airplane outside North America, according to LBAS parent company Lufthansa Technik.

The service packages include access to a pool of highly qualified engineers and mechanics, worldwide material support through the Lufthansa Technik logistics network, and assured support in case of AOG incidents and other emergencies.

“Our customers will get 24/7 global free-of-charge troubleshooting hotline support for up to 10 man hours as an airside assistance regardless of where the aircraft operates,” said Walter Heerdt, senior v-p of marketing and sales. “This means that after signing a standby support agreement, no further fees or charges will apply until the customer requests additional service at prior agreed-to prices and conditions.”

Engineering and troubleshooting questions will be handled by Lufthansa Technik’s central maintenance control center.

Brabus Private Aviation, which was revealed at EBACE in May as a new luxury design, completion and management venture, was “launched” at MEBA 2012 yesterday, at 12:12 p.m. local time on 12/12/12. The new venture brings together four respected names from the automotive and aviation worlds: Brabus, PrivatAir, Ruag Aviation and Happy Design Studio. Brabus has 35 years’ experience in the luxury outfitting and customization of automobiles, particularly those of Mercedes-Benz.

Lufthansa Technik (Stand 335) is preparing to receive a second Boeing 747-8 for VIP conversion by the company’s VIP & Executive Jet Solutions division at its Hamburg plant. The first 747-8 arrived at the end of August and is now into its completion program while the second aircraft is scheduled to arrive later this month, following contract signature at the Dubai Air Show last year.

Lufthansa Technik is preparing to receive a second Boeing 747-8 for VIP conversion by the company’s completions facility in Hamburg, Germany. Those preparations include an intensive engineering planning phase, qualification programs and modifications to the hangar space to accommodate the aircraft. The first 747-8 arrived at the end of August and is now into its completion program. The second aircraft is scheduled to arrive later this month, following contract signature at the Dubai Air Show last year. Both of these 747-8s are due to be delivered to their customers in 2014.

Airbus has awarded Lufthansa Technik (Booth No. 2529) a completion contract for three additional ACJ318 aircraft and bestowed its “Best VIP cabin outfitter of the year 2012” prize on the company.

Airbus and Lufthansa Technik have partnered on the ACJ318 program since 2006 with the latter already completing 17 of the aircraft at its facilities in Hamburg and Tulsa. Three more will arrive next year and two additional in 2014 and 2015, respectively. In 2009 all ACJ318 completion was transferred to Lufthansa’s Bizjet International subsidiary in Tulsa.

Richardson has extensive experience across all aspects of large aircraft interior completions.

CTT Systems is piling up contracts for its Cair cabin humidification system.

In early August the Nykoping, Sweden-based company announced an order for a Cair package from Lufthansa Technik. The system is being installed in a 747-8 undergoing outfitting at the German completion center’s Hamburg facilities.

According to the MRO, Turkey is one of the 10 countries worldwide growing most strongly and leads growth in Europe. “With fifteen airlines within a single country, Turkey offers us great potential.
