Israel’s Elbit Systems announced a multimillion-dollar contract to supply its Hermes 450 and 900 unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) to a “Latin American customer.” The buyer was identified in press reports as Colombia.

J-Music is a new DIRCM [directed infrared countermeasures] system intended for large aircraft, while the All-in-Small is a compact unified protection suite that has both fixed- and rotary-wing applications.

Israel’s latest remote-sensing satellite, Ofeq-9, was successfully placed in orbit on June 22 by an Israel Aerospace Industries Shavit vehicle launched from Palmachim Air Force Base, near the cities of Rishon LeZion and Yavne. Three days later the IAI-built satellite began transmitting its first high-resolution images.

A recent and hitherto unannounced delivery of electronic warfare (EW) equipment to Germany highlights the growing export portfolio of Israeli electronic warfare firm Elisra. The EW/radar warning receiver equipment was supplied under an urgent operational requirement for the German army’s CH-53 helicopters, in advance of a deployment to Afghanistan.

Israel launched another reconnaissance satellite last week as military tensions increase in the Middle East. After lifting off from the Palmachim range at 2:40 local time on June 11, the Shavit three-stage launcher successfully delivered the 300-kilogram Ofeq-7 into a low-Earth, elliptical orbit. Once in orbit, Ofeq-7 unfurled its solar array that should give it a minimum life of four years.
