Stevens Aviation, buoyed by market reception of its Lear4Ever avionics and airframe modification package for the Learjet 35, today announced expansion of its Select Suite of aircraft targeted for the same level of avionics modernization to include some other popular models.
Honeywell yesterday unveiled its new, completely redesigned Ovation Select cabin management system, a package that “seamlessly integrates entertainment and connectivity technology through a simple and intuitive passenger interface.”
Gulfstream’s new G250 super-midsize jet is the latest to feature Rockwell Collins’ Pro Line Fusion avionics suite. With three 15-inch displays and dual multifunction controllers that incorporate standby instrumentation, the G250 system–dubbed PlaneView250 by Gulfstream–also offers optional installation of Rockwell Collins’ HGS-6250 head-up guidance system. First deliveries of the G250 are planned in 2011.
As of September 25, the number of GPS-based wide-area augmentation system (WAAS) instrument approach procedures in the U.S. surpassed the number of ILS approaches. “This is clearly a turning point for aviation and the way pilots navigate,” the FAA said in a statement announcing the milestone.

At last month’s Paris Air Show, Rockwell Collins announced certification by U.S. and Canadian authorities of the company’s Pro Line 21 cockpit in the super-midsize Bombardier Challenger 300. The flight deck contains four 12- by 10-inch LCDs and integrates a number of advanced technologies, including TCAS II and TAWS, as standard. Options include turbulence-detection weather radar and 3-D FMS navigation maps.
Jet Works Air Center recently broke ground on its 43,000-sq-ft maintenance hangar expansion in Denton, Texas. It is expected to be completed in the first quarter of next year and will include 40,000 sq ft for additional aircraft maintenance and repair, inspections and avionics installations. Similar to the existing Jet Works facility, the new hangar will also accommodate long-range business jets such as the Global Express and Gulfstream V.
Aviation Sales Inc., Swiss aircraft maker Pilatus’ Western U.S. PC-12 distributor, has named Jet Works Aviation Inc. the new Southern Service Center for the PC-12 turbine single. The company, a turbine and avionics specialist, is located at Meacham Airport in Fort Worth, Texas.
