Brazil’s Embraer notched another 10-aircraft order from China’s CDB Leasing for E190s last month, during a state visit by Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff to the People’s Republic. CDB also signed a letter of intent to buy a third tranche of 10 E190s, bringing to 30 the total number of the 100-seat jets on order by the Chinese leasing company.

Embraer believes that business aviation is facing a slower recovery than it was last year, when it last issued its forecast for the executive aviation sector. Claudio Camelier, Embraer vice president for executive jet market intelligence, said that there are still concerns about how sustainable the economic recovery will be with forecast gross domestic product growth rates having dipped slightly this year.

Republic Airways said it has amended its capacity purchase agreement (CPA) with Delta Air Lines to provide for the addition of eight dual-class Embraer E170s for a period of at least six years. Republic plans to place the 70-seat jets into Delta Connection service between May and September, after removing them from its Frontier Airlines system.

In just two years, Embraer has moved from a minor player in the business jet market–garnering only 3 percent of market share by volume in 2008–to one that now corners almost one-fifth of deliveries in this segment, with 19 percent. The Brazilian aircraft manufacturer told AIN last year that it is seeking at least 30 percent of the business jet market in terms of volume.

Former Alenia executive Carlo Logli (senior vice president of strategies and business development) replaced Alessandro Franzoni as CEO of Superjet International as part of a management shakeup that saw Franzoni move to Alenia Aermacchi to become its chief operating officer. Meanwhile, Alenia Aermacchi CEO Carmelo Cosentino replaced Amedeo Caporaletti as Superjet International’s chairman of the board.

Azul Linhas Aereos, Brazil’s newest discount airline, registered a 79.71-percent load factor and carried 2.2 million passengers last year, its first full year of operation, and the fledgling carrier expects to turn a profit this year.

Lufthansa has placed a new firm order for eight Embraer E195s for use within the Lufthansa Regional system, the Brazilian manufacturer announced last month. The deal raises the total number of Embraer E-Jets ordered by the German airline to 38.

Embraer announced yesterday at MEBA the appointment of the ExecuJet Aviation Group as an authorized service center for the Legacy 600 and 650 aircraft. Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance will be undertaken at ExecuJet's Dubai base, which has also recently joined a new global service network for Hawker Beechcraft. The facility is already a long-established service center for Bombardier.
