Charter/management company ExcelAire announced Tuesday that it has added a 13-seat Gulfstream GIV-SP to its fleet, bringing the company’s Gulfstream inventory to 10 jets.

An anemic market for business jets and the recent loss of a major customer will have no effect on the flight test schedule or certification of the Pro Line Fusion integrated avionics system, according to manufacturer Rockwell Collins.
A Brazilian labor court ruled late last month that Embraer would not have to reinstate some 4,300 employees it laid off in February after it found that the company did not violate any of the country’s labor laws. However, the court ruled that Embraer would have to pay the employees’ salaries up to March 13, rather than February 19–the day the company instituted the dismissals.
Prosecutors in Brazil are appealing the dropping of some accusations in the 2006 midair between a Gol Airlines Boeing 737-800 and an ExcelAire Embraer Legacy 600. Judge Murilo Mendes recently dismissed charges that the American Legacy pilots, Joe Lepore and Jan Paladino, were negligent in not taking emergency steps for communications loss, ruling that nothing suggested an emergency situation.

The FAA, EASA and Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency last month granted type certification to the Lineage 1000, the business jet version of the E190 fly-by-wire jetliner. The FAA also approved supplemental type certificates for the Lineage 1000’s interior, designed by Embraer and London-based Priestman Goode and manufactured by Pats Aircraft Completions. The interior features five cabin zones and a private suite with shower.
On Monday, Brazilian Federal Court judge Murilo Mendes cleared U.S. pilots Joe Lepore and Jan Paladino of negligence charges related to the September 2006 midair between a Gol Boeing 737-800 and the Embraer Legacy 600 the pair were ferrying on its delivery flight to their employer, ExcelAire of Long Island.
According to reports in several Brazilian newspapers, U.S. Legacy 600 pilots Joseph Lepore and Jan Paladino and Brazilian controllers will be blamed for the September 2006 midair in which an ExcelAire-owned Embraer Legacy 600 collided with a Gol Airlines Boeing 737-800 over Brazil’s Amazon jungle, killing all 154 aboard the airliner.
Embraer has opened a factory-owned executive jet service center at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood (Fla.) International Airport, its third such facility in the U.S. The 55,500-sq-ft center will provide support for the company’s Phenom 100 and 300 and Legacy 450, 500 and 600 business jets. Embraer recently opened executive jet service facilities at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, Conn., and Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.
