Embraer has been awarded certification of its large-cabin Legacy 650 by the Brazilian Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and EASA, the company announced at the NBAA convention's static display yesterday.

The $25.9 million Legacy 650, an upgrade of the Legacy 600, was announced at last year's NBAA show in Orlando, Fla., where the company vowed to have the aircraft certified in a year.

The Embraer Legacy 650 will make its public debut at the seventh Latin American Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (Labace), which starts on Thursday and ends Saturday at Congonhas Airport in São Paulo, Brazil. São Paulo, Brazil-based Embraer delivered 69 regional and executive jets in the second quarter, up 15 aircraft from the same period last year. Shipments of Embraer’s executive jets more than doubled from 19 in the second quarter last year to 40 this year, while regional jet deliveries fell from 35 to 29.

But as Concorde passengers learned over the years, the sensation of speed is quickly forgotten when the cabin is as cramped as it was aboard the SST.
