For the first time since the end of 2006, quarterly deliveries of business jets, turboprops and piston-powered aircraft finished in the positive, according to first-quarter 2013 statistics released last month by the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA). “We are pleased to see a shift to the positive for GA airplanes, which extends across all airplane segments,” said GAMA president and CEO Pete Bunce.
Embraer Phenom 100
Embraer Executive Jets (Booth 7041) continues to expand at its headquarters in Melbourne, Florida. The business jet division of the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer has been assembling and delivering Phenoms since 2011 at the southeast U.S. complex and its customer center there has been open for about a year and a half. In addition, it is building a new engineering center, and there is ample room for further growth.
Cirrus Aircraft is here exhibiting its SR22 piston single on the static display in a bid to persuade business aircraft owners that “there is always a good reason to have another plane,” as Jan-Peter Fisher, a Cirrus representative in Germany, put it. For example, the SR22 can land at small airfields that cannot accommodate a business jet. The five-seater is “about the fun of flying,” Fisher went on, not forgetting to mention the high cruise speed for the category: 200 knots.
The new Embraer Legacy 500 made its first appearance outside Brazil as it flew here from Brazil to EBACE, where it is on display in the static park. Yesterday, Embraer Executive Jets president Ernie Edwards reported that the airplane successfully underwent cold-soak tests in a freezing hangar at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida following its first leg from São Jose dos Campos, Brazil. The next leg was a short hop to Embraer’s U.S. manufacturing facilities in Melbourne, Florida, where guests viewed the airplane and order-holders defined their preferred interior configurations.
The FAA presented Embraer Executive Jets with a production certificate to assemble the Phenom 300 at its Melbourne, Fla. facility yesterday. Embraer has delivered three U.S.-assembled Phenom 300s since the first one came off the line in March. The Phenom 300s are assembled on the same production line as Phenom 100s, which have been coming off the line at the Florida plant since December 2011. Embraer’s light jets are now being assembled in Florida at a rate of three aircraft per month, less than half of the full capacity of eight a month.
Aircraft lease, equity charter and fractional provider Executive AirShare says it recorded its “most successful” year ever and the third consecutive year of double-digit growth last year. The Kansas City, Mo.-based regional fractional operates the largest fleet of Embraer Phenoms, with more than 140 fractional shareowners and another 36 members in its lease and aircraft management programs. The company has 43 aircraft–King Airs and Phenom 100s and 300s–in its combined fractional and managed fleets and more than 140 employees at six cities in the Central U.S.
Brazilian manufacturer Embraer announced on Monday here at ABACE that it received another order for its Lineage 1000. The order is for a single aircraft, which is scheduled for delivery to an undisclosed Chinese customer in the first half of this year, according to Ernest Edwards, president of Embraer Executive Jets. The order builds on previous successes, including an order from Minsheng Financial Leasing for five Lineages.
Florida Gov. Rick Scott and other political leaders joined Embraer president and CEO Frederico Curado on March 26 to cut the ribbon on a 40,000-sq-ft hangar at Jacksonville International Airport that Embraer will use to assemble the A-29 Super Tucano for the U.S. Air Force Light Air Support (LAS) program.
Embraer announced yesterday that it delivered 99 business jets last year, matching its total deliveries in 2011.
In the fourth quarter the Brazilian company shipped 53 business jets, three more than in the same quarter in 2011 and seven more than it did in the combined first three quarters of 2012. By model, the Brazilian OEM delivered 13 Phenom 100s, 24 Phenom 300s, 15 Legacy 650s and one Lineage 1000 in the last quarter. During the first three quarters of last year Embraer handed over 16 Phenom 100s, 24 Phenom 300s, four Legacy 650s, one Lineage 1000 and one ERJ shuttle.
Embraer Executive Jets has launched the Embraer Executive Care (EEC) Engine Add-On option, which complements the EEC and the Eagle Service Plan (ESP) programs. The new EEC Engine Add-On option helps Phenom 100 and Phenom 300 operators to streamline and simplify invoice and payment processes, addressing what Embraer says is one of its customers’ main concerns.
