Although the name of the NBAA annual meeting and convention has changed to the Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition, the yearly celebration of all things business aviation has been and always will be known as the NBAA show, and those headed to Las Vegas for the October 22 to 24 event universally say they are going to “NBAA.”
Embraer Phenom 100
Embraer Executive Jets said yesterday that it will announce enhancements to its current business jet portfolio, including a “new version” of its Lineage 1000 bizliner, at the NBAA Convention next month in Las Vegas. In addition, the Brazilian manufacturer’s midsize Legacy 500 will make its NBAA debut at the static display at Las Vegas Henderson Executive Airport.
Jet Support Services has launched Embraer Phenom 100 and 300 airframe programs. The programs cover virtually every part, component, assembly and system of the airframe, including all parts and labor for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. The cost-per-flight-hour service is backed by 24/7 access to technical and client services teams worldwide.
The company has been providing engine coverage for Phenoms for several years.
The business jet fleet is projected to grow by 55 percent over the next 12 years–to nearly 31,000 aircraft from about 20,000 today–according to the International Bureau of Aviation’s Business Jet Asset Report 2013, released on Tuesday. Much of the new growth is expected to come from new deliveries, “Implying many business jet models have a solid future ahead of them,” the group said.
This week at LABACE 2013, Embraer has moved from its usual chalet near the show entrance to the other end of the static display ramp, where it has room for its entire line-up, including the Phenom 100 and 300, Legacy 650 and Lineage 1000, as well as the third Legacy 500 in the certification program and a Legacy 450 cabin mockup. The Legacy 500 is also making its LABACE debut.
Hourly maintenance cost provider Jet Support Services, Inc. (JSSI) has launched new programs covering airframe work on Embraer’s Phenom 100 and 300 light jets. The new Phenom Airframe Program enhances the Brazilian manufacturer’s standard warranties and covers virtually all airframe parts, components, assemblies and systems.

Avionics manufacturer Garmin (Stand 2011) is experiencing growing interest in its products from the Brazilian marketplace, which has the second-largest general aviation fleet in the world. Garmin flight decks are prominent in two popular Brazilian business jets: the Embraer Phenom 100 and 300. In addition, many Brazilian operators are choosing the Garmin G950 and G1000 upgrades for Beechcraft King Airs, as well as the Garmin GTN series touchscreen GPS/navigation and communication systems for a variety of aircraft.
Even as the Brazilian economy appears in a slow slide downward, business aviation fractional ownership operator Avantto (Stand 6111) is watching its value grow. “People are flying about 20 percent more, and the number of flights at Avantto is growing faster than the size of our fleet,” said company president Rogério Andrade.
Two pilots escaped injury on August 5 when their Flight Options Embraer Phenom 300 ran off the end of the runway and continued through a fence while landing at Flying Cloud Airport (KFCM) in a Minneapolis suburb. A local police report said the jet came to rest on the shoulder of a road just before 9 a.m. The Phenom had departed Pittsburgh at approximately 7:30 a.m. local time with only the two pilots aboard.
