Jeppesen and Honeywell Aerospace introduced a new cloud-based database update delivery service today for aircraft equipped with Honeywell Primus Epic Integrated Navigation or Primus Apex avionics. The new integrated navigation data service data manager (IDM) for Windows, available at no extra costs for subscribers, eliminates physical delivery of critical flight data updates, allowing users to download the updates from anywhere. The service is designed to support future enhancements, such as a potential wireless data-loading interface.
Enhanced Avionics System
Rockwell Collins announced an upgrade path for Fans 1/A capability in Dassault Falcon 50EXs, 2000s and 2000EXs with Collins avionics and flight management system. The enhancements, which will be available from Rockwell Collins next year, include automatic dependent surveillance-contract (ADS-C) and controller pilot datalink communications (CPDLC).
Dassault Aviation (Stand 1445), which is here exhibiting its Falcon 7X and Falcon 900LX business jets, expects the Middle East to be a major market for its new Falcon 5X, which was revealed at last month’s NBAA show in Las Vegas. The Saint-Cloud, France-based manufacturer has just begun offering a cockpit upgrade retrofit for the Falcon 900C/EX and an improvement for the Falcon 7X’s electronic flight bag (EFB).
Honeywell is highlighting upgrades available to its satcom products, flight management systems (FMS), cabin management systems (CMS) and cockpit displays at this year’s NBAA show.
The company has developed a modification that allows an operator with the “C” series Ovation Select CMS to upgrade the system to full HD video and audio, onboard music, Blu-ray and PlayStation capability. The modification will be offered through the Honeywell dealer network via a supplemental type certificate.
The fleet of Dassault Falcon jets in Russia and the CIS countries has doubled over the past five years, with more than 60 Falcon jets now in operation, according to Gilles Gautier, vice president of sales for Dassault Aviation. Seven new aircraft were delivered in the region in the first half of 2013 alone, accounting for 15 percent of Dassault Falcon’s worldwide deliveries.
Brazil’s ANAC aviation authority has granted a supplemental type certificate (STC) to StandardAero for installation of the Primus Elite avionics suite developed by Honeywell (Stand 1004) for the Dassault Falcon 900C and Falcon 900EX.
The approval by Brazilian aviation authorities follows receipt of an STC from Transport Canada. Approval by the European Aviation Safety Agency was expected just prior to the opening of LABACE 2013.
CAE will offer maintenance training, including EASy II, on the Dassault Falcon 2000LXS and 2000S. The training is supplemental to initial Dassault Falcon 2000 EX EASy certification and the curriculum includes additional model-specific content.
Maintenance training on these aircraft complements CAE’s EASy II pilot training offering, which was recently qualified to Level D, making CAE the first training provider to deliver training with the latest EASy II avionics for the 7X and 2000 EASy series.
Honeywell (Booth 487) is at EBACE 2013 exhibiting a fully functioning mock-up of its Ovation Select cabin management system (CMS) and the company is also highlighting a number of avionics upgrades.
Embraer has selected the Honeywell Primus Epic 2 integrated avionics system for the second-generation E-Jet, slated to enter service in 2018. The decision is another important milestone in the program, which is expected to be launched later this year. The Primus Epic 2 integrated avionics system includes four 13- by 10-inch large landscape displays with advanced graphics capabilities.
A good part of Dassault Aviation’s profile at this week’s Aero India show is based on its Rafale fighter, which was last year selected for the country’s new Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft requirement. But the French manufacturer also has big business aviation ambitions in India, as is evidenced by the pair of Falcon 7X trijets it has on display this week in Bangalore, along with a Falcon 900LX and a 2000S.
