Epic Aircraft has selected the Honeywell TPE331-10A turboprop engine for its newest aircraft, the Epic Escape, the engine maker announced here. In its Escape configuration, the engine produces 940 shp, giving the aircraft 1,800 nm of range and a 360-knot maximum cruise speed.

Dassault Aviation, which next month will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first flight of the Mystère/Falcon 20, said it has managed to stay afloat despite the current global aerospace crisis thanks to its Falcon products. But Charles Edelstenne, the group’s chairman, already predicts lower revenues for its business aviation division this year because of the “present climate and the consequences of conflict with Iraq.”

Dassault’s newest business jet, the Falcon 2000EX, last month received FAA certification and JAA approval for certification by its member nations. The approximately $23.5 million Falcon 2000EX is essentially a longer-range, more powerful version of the $21.8 million Falcon 2000, currently Dassault’s best-selling model.؉

Dassault’s new EASy flight deck should enter customer service this spring on a Falcon 900EX. Early last month AIN visited the airframer’s facility in Bordeaux Mérignac, France, to see how the ongoing flight tests have refined the avionics suite. Philippe Deleume, Dassault’s chief test pilot for civil aircraft, also explained how extensive engineer-pilot interaction have improved man-machine interface.

Dassault has selected a new, smaller version of the Rockwell Collins Flight Dynamics HGS 4000 head-up display as an option for the Falcon 7X. The 7X HGS will provide a wider field of view and larger glass for better viewing during crosswind landings and circling approaches, said Rockwell Collins.
