Owners and operators of all U.S.-registered Agusta A109E Power helicopters are being required to reduce their tail-rotor blade life limit, as well as reinserting and possibly modifying the tail-rotor hub and grip assembly. Also, Vne for the A109E must be reduced by 28 kt to 140 kt.
Swiss-based simulation specialist Elite is now offering a helicopter flight-training device (FTD). Elite exhibited the S623, based on the Eurocopter AS 350, for the first time at the Heli Trade show in Geneva.

A mockup of Gulfstream’s new GV-SP will debut at the NBAA Convention later this month in New Orleans. The mockup, being built by McKinney Aerospace in McKinney, Texas, will feature a complete interior and cockpit, including the Honeywell PlaneView avionics suite. The GV-SP test aircraft rolled out August 8, with the start of flight tests scheduled in the fourth quarter. U.S.
Air BP is offering a new handbook, Introduction to Aviation Fuels Handling, to FBOs and line personnel. The handbook offers new line personnel an overview of the airport-fueling environment, according to author Mike Mooney. The handbook reviews many aspects of the aviation business and cites real-life examples to show
the consequences of errors in the airport environment.
Baker Electronics has introduced a miniature multi-region DVD player that measures 2.5 in. high, 7.25 in. wide and 8 in. deep. Multi-region means that the unit can play DVDs from all parts of the world, as well as audio CDs, video CDs, so-called super video CDs and MP3 CDs. Dubbed the Mini-MRDVD-DB, the unit has been “ruggedized” for durability in aircraft cabins, according to Baker.
