A federal district court in California has indicted Jeffrey Borer and Arvel Reeves on conspiracy and other charges related to secretly recorded conversations between entertainer Michael Jackson and his attorney while on a chartered Gulfstream IISP flight from Las Vegas to Santa Barbara, Calif., on Nov. 20, 2003.
Donald Burr recently left air-taxi hopeful Pogo to "pursue other opportunities," according to a company statement. Burr, founder of People Express, and Robert Crandall, controversial chief of American Airlines, were fierce competitors in the 1980s. The pair established Pogo in May 2004 to develop a national on-demand, regional-based air-taxi network using hundreds of very light twinjets.

Europe’s Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA) want to require pilots to respond to resolution advisories (RAs) from airborne collision avoidance systems (ACAS) in all circumstances. On March 1, the regulator issued a notice of proposed amendment (NPA) for JAR-OPS 1.398 rules covering ACAS operations.
The FAA last month issued three separate airworthiness alerts on the TBM 700 turboprop single. The alerts, which do not carry the force of ADs, but are “highly recommended” by the FAA, deal with a faulty GPU plug that could damage the power supply cable; possible interference between the pitot-tube supply line and the aileron cable; and corrosion-caused cracks in the attachment fittings of the tail fin.
Raytheon issued a new safety communiqué to advise Beech 1900 operators of another misleading illustration in the type’s maintenance manuals. The notice represents the latest in a series of manual revisions prompted by the crash of two Beech 1900D airliners that killed 23 people in 2003.
Spokane, Wash.-based Rocket Engineering is developing the Turbine P/Baron in parallel with the Royal Turbine Duke program. The Baron conversion, which fits two PT6A-21 turboprops and Hartzell four-blade full-feathering-reversing metal props to the light twin, costs about $700,000 (airframe additional). The company plans to have an STC in about 12 to 18 months.
