The reformed European Helicopter Association–operating under the acronym newEHA–publicly touched down for the first time at the 2009 Helitech show at Duxford, UK, albeit having had to adopt a slightly revised flight plan. At the 11th hour, the European HEMS and Air Ambulance Committee (EHAC) opted not to merge with newEHA.

Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C., has ordered three new American Eurocopter EC135s for its MedCenter Air program. The helicopters will be delivered later this year. They will be equipped with anti-collision and terrain avoidance systems as well as night vision goggles, satellite tracking and environmental control options.
Falcon Aviation Services, a charter operator based in Abu Dhabi, has placed its Eurocopter EC 135 “L'Hélicoptère par Hermès” on the market, less than five months after taking delivery. UK-based PremiAir is marketing the luxurious light twin.
Bell Helicopter Textron of Fort Worth, Texas, expects Transport Canada to issue the type certificate for the company’s twin-turbine Bell 429 light helicopter by the end of this month. Approval from U.S. and European authorities should follow just a few weeks after that.
Eurocopter has distanced itself from Chinese partner Avicopter on their joint seven-ton-class civil helicopter program saying the EC 175 and the Z15 will be “two different aircraft.” In a press conference held next to the EC 175 mockup here at the Paris Air Show, executive vice president for commercial programs Joseph Saporito also confirmed the first flight will take place by year-end.

The UK’s Home Office has announced funding for six new police Eurocopter EC 135s. The £5 million ($7 million) capital grant for air support is part of the first joint procurement by six UK police forces. The Police Air Support Units in Suffolk, Cheshire, North Wales, Cleveland, Midlands and Chilterns will each receive a new Pratt & Whitney Canada-powered EC 135P2i.
Eurocopter EC 135-T2, Molesmes, France, Jan. 2, 2009–The pilot of the Regourd Aviation EC 135 was killed when the helicopter crashed in hills near Molesmes in IFR conditions. The helicopter, which was destroyed, was en route from Paris to Lyon Bron. The French Bureau d’Enquêtes et d’Analyses is investigating.
