The Eurocopter EC 120B Colibri has been selected as the training platform for a 20-year rotary-wing program in Singapore, the European helicopter manufacturer announced here on Monday. Under the contract, Singapore Technologies Aerospace (ST Aerospace) will receive an unspecified number of EC 120B single-engine light helicopters on which Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) pilots will be trained.
Kitchener Aero has delivered its first Eurocopter EC 120 with upgraded avionics and special-mission modifications. The factory-new helicopter was flown directly to Kitchener, Ontario. Most visible now are the two Sagem ICDS-8 EFIS flight displays. Another feature is a downward-facing camera, images from which can be shown on the multifunction display. The modification project began in June and concluded in August.
French turbine helicopter engine manufacturer Turbomeca, coming off a record production year in 2005, is at Heli-Expo’06 working to secure a beachhead in its “American Invasion” program, an effort designed to emphasize increased production capacity and support capabilities at Turbomeca USA.
Talk about making inroads. The FlightLogic synthetic-vision EFIS from Chelton Flight Systems has received STC approvals in several helicopter models recently, and no fewer than eight of the helicopters on display at February’s Heli-Expo in Dallas were fitted with the system.
