German charter operator Cirrus Aviation is joining forces with Luxair of Luxembourg. The alliance will result in Cirrus operating a fleet of 17 executive jets, including various Cessna Citations, Bombardier Learjets and larger aircraft up to the Global Express.

Zurich based Exklusiv Aviation Services also has offices in Moscow and Istanbul. This clearly indicates its orientation, although the company says it is offering worldwide service. Exklusiv works as an executive charter broker at large but has a special relation with Luxair for marketing the seats of its fleet of seven Falcon 900s and 2000s.
German charter operator Cirrus Aviation is to operate Eclipse 500s on behalf of UK-based group JetSet Air, which ordered up to 50 of the new very light jets last November. JetSet Air managing director David Bond also announced yesterday that he has begun negotiations with Embraer for the purchase of up to 10 Phenom 100 VLJs for delivery by 2009. The first two Eclipse 500s will arrive in spring 2007.
Taipei’s Mandarin Airlines is to lease three Embraer Model 190 and five Model 195 regional jets from GE Commercial Aviation Services (GECAS). The aircraft will be configured in 104- and 116-seat single-class layouts, respectively.
Four of the 16 occupants (including one crewmember) died when a British Aerospace 146-200A regional jet overran the runway and burned at Stord-Sorstokken Airport, Norway, on Tuesday. Operated by Atlantic Airways, the 19-year-old aircraft (OY-CRG) reportedly had been chartered by Aker Kvaerner to transport 12 of the Norwegian industrial company’s personnel from Stavanger-Sola to Molde via Stord.

Embraer delivered two Legacy business jets in the first quarter compared with none in the same period last year, in addition to 28 regional jets, according to the Brazilian airframer. The company delivered 13 Legacys last year and in 2003. Embraer is expecting to deliver a total of 145 corporate and regional jets this year.
