Fairchild (M7 Aerospace is the current TC holder) Metro III, Somerset, Ky., Jan. 2, 2010–The twin turboprop was substantially damaged after it skidded off the runway, went down an embankment and hit the airport boundary fence. According to the pilot, the aircraft’s nosewheel locked during the landing roll, causing the aircraft to veer to the right. The pilot applied full left rudder, but he was unable to regain control.
Munich, Germany-based 328 Support Services has received FAA repair station status for its Dornier 328 executive conversion work. The company is the type certificate holder for the Dornier 328 and is a registered production, customer support, engineering and third-party maintenance organization with headquarters at Oberpfaffenhofen Airfield.
The FAA has awarded repair station status to Munich, Germany-based 328 Support Services for the Dornier 328 jet and turboprop in recognition of its executive conversion work, primarily in Europe so far. The company is working on its first executive 328 destined for a U.S. customer, Aviando Services of Miami.
AvCraft Support Services and Colombia’s Indaer Industrial Aeronautica last month announced the formation of a joint venture to provide heavy maintenance on ATR 42s and 72s at AvCraft’s Myrtle Beach, S.C. facilities.
Comtran International, an independent interior refurbishment center based at Horseshoe Bay Resort Airport, Texas, has won European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification for its Dornier 328Jet executive conversion.
328 Support Services announced the sale of two 328Jets to a Middle Eastern customer. The aircraft, formerly operated by Shell Netherlands, will be refurbished with 10-seat executive interiors and long-range wing-center tanks at 328 Support’s Oberpfaffenhofen facility. The aircraft will be operated for VIP use in the Middle East and Africa by HYSSOP Global of Nigeria on behalf of its private owner.
German operator DC Aviation yesterday launched a frequent-flier program in part of an industry-wide scramble to offer better value for money in a still-weak executive charter sector. For an initial period running from June 1, 2009 to May 31, 2010, the new DC Aviation Loyalty Club will give customers a range of benefits, including flight prices on a sliding scale and guaranteed availability in the midsize jet segment.
Action Aviation, which markets the former Sino Swearingen SJ30 and Bombardier CRJ200 business jets, has signed an agreement with 328 Support Services of Germany to distribute the Dornier 328Jet. The two companies are jointly exhibiting here on the EBACE static display.
328 Support Services has started work on another Dornier 328Jet conversion from airliner to executive transport. The twinjet, destined for Aviando Services of Miami, is to be converted into a 12-passenger “luxury” aircraft and is scheduled for delivery in October.
