The Greater Washington Business Aviation Association’s (GWBAA) 2014 safety standdown takes place May 1 at the NTSB training center in Ashburn, Va. The keynote speaker will be Greg Feith, a former member of the NTSB and an aviation safety and security expert. Planned topics include the ISBAO program, hangar safety systems and sleep apnea/fatigue.

About 85 pilots, mechanics and flight department personnel attended the Greater Washington Business Aviation Association’s second annual safety standdown, held last week at the NTSB Training Center in Ashburn, Va. “I thought it was a huge success and improved on what we offered the previous year,” said corporate pilot and GWBAA safety and operations chairman Jim Lumley.

Addison, Texas-based Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, which services the more than 400 MU-2s operating outside of Japan, expressed its approval and cooperation with the FAA’s safety evaluation of the twin turboprop. Further, the company has contracted former NTSB investigator Greg Feith to assist in the review.
