Banyan Air Service (Booth No. N4726) has announced the appointment of Craig Huston as chief operating officer for the FBO, which is located at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, in Florida.

Huston comes to Banyan with more than 18 years of leadership experience at large OEMs around the globe. He is responsible for overseeing all of Banyan’s operations, from FBO services to avionics repair, maintenance, parts and Banyan’s retail pilot shop.

Wingspan Systems has announced RampTrack, a new ground accident avoidance system intended to help prevent ramp and hangar accidents by tracking aircraft on the ground and issuing a warning if they are at risk of striking a building, aircraft, vehicle or person. Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Banyan Air Service will be the launch customer. The system uses redundant sensors, intelligent software and visual and aural alarms to reduce the chance of hangar rash due to contact with toolboxes or ground tugs while relocating or taxiing aircraft.

Construction of Banyan Air Service’s new 25,000-sq-ft FBO terminal building at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport is nearing completion and a November 10 opening is anticipated. A 20,000-sq-ft hangar is attached.

The tropical setting of the South Florida FBO includes plantation-style paddle fans, a 600-gallon saltwater aquarium, 30-foot palm trees and a waterfall cascading from the second story.
