Porvair Filtration Group’s Ashland, Va. facility is manufacturing last-chance filters for the aerospace industry. Last-chance filters and screens in aircraft fluid systems provide critical point-of-use protection for contamination-sensitive components, performing a complementary role to main system filters. Last-chance filters are designed to remove and retain contamination such as machining chips, burrs, wear debris and fluid breakdown products introduced during operation or downstream of the main system filters.
Marenco Swisshelicopter has selected Donaldson Aerospace & Defense to provide the fuel filtration system for its new Skye SH09 helicopter. The equipment will protect the performance of the Honeywell HTS900-2 turboshaft that will power the eight-seat helicopter. Donaldson specializes in making lightweight, advanced filtration systems.

Turbine engine inlet filter specialist Donaldson Aerospace & Defense has completed a year marked by new products, a new St. Louis facility, and delivery of its 5,000th inlet barrier filter system.

The kit, for a Bell 429, will be delivered this month and Donaldson and Bell marked the milestone here at the Donaldson exhibit yesterday with hors d’oeuvres and beverages.
Donaldson has delivered the first full-scale engine air particle protection system (EAPPS) to Sikorsky for the CH-53K heavy-lift helicopter destined to achieve initial operating capability (IOC) with the U.S. Marines in 2018. Qualification testing of the EAPPS will begin in May.
AAR has been appointed as a distributor for the new AirManager air filtration system developed by Quest International to eliminate potentially harmful airborne contaminates. U.S.-based AAR will be helping the UK’s Quest to find new applications for the active air filtration and sterilization system, which is based on close-coupled field technology.
Donaldson’s Aerospace Filtration Systems (AFS) unit has received supplemental type certificate approval from the FAA for an inlet barrier filter (IBF) system for the AgustaWestland AW139. The new AW139 IBF system features low-profile conformal fore and aft fairings with dual filter assemblies mounted on the existing engine doors, creating a sealed intake plenum and an alternate inlet air bypass system activated by a cockpit switch.
