After four years of development and almost 500 hours of flight testing, the Raisbeck ZR Lite System for the Learjet 35/36 has earned an STC.
Cessna Citation 560XL, Wheeling, Ill., Nov. 11, 2003–Citation N789CN was substantially damaged when it overran the end of the runway during an aborted takeoff at Palwaukee Municipal Airport (PWK).
LEARJET 35A, GROTON, CONN., AUG. 4, 2003–The first officer’s inadvertent retraction of the flaps during low-altitude maneuvering caused Learjet N135PT to stall and crash into a house while attempting to land at the Groton/New London Airport, said the NTSB. Factors were the captain’s decision to perform a low-altitude maneuver using excessive bank angle, the flight crew’s inadequate coordination and low clouds surrounding the airport.
HAWKER SIDDELEY HS-125-700A, BEAUMONT, TEXAS, SEPT. 20, 2003–While the crew was practicing stalls, Hawker N45BP, operated by Starflite, of Houston, was destroyed when it went down 15 miles northwest of the Beaumont airport. All three pilots on board were all killed.
AvAero, a maker of Learjet hush kits, has received an STC for a fuel-saving aerodynamic modification of the Boeing 737-200/300. The company claims the mod will decrease the twinjet’s fuel burn by an average of 4 percent, equating to about a 230-pph fuel-burn reduction. By repositioning the trailing-edge flaps, AvAero said it increases aft wing camber, which lets the airfoil generate the same lift at a lower angle of attack.
Lockheed JetStar 1329-23E, Houston, Texas, May 15, 2004–Lockheed JetStar N57NR sustained minor damage following an in-flight separation of the left flap assembly while on final approach to William P. Hobby Airport (HOU). The airplane was registered to and operated by Aircraft Trading Center of Tequesta, Fla. The two ATP pilots and two passengers were not injured.
Cessna 525A CitationJet, Dexter, Maine, Oct. 7, 2002–Citation N57EJ was substantially damaged during a runway overrun at Dexter Regional Airport (1B0). The ATP pilot and one passenger received serious injuries, and two passengers received minor injuries.
Bombardier CRJ, Milwaukee, Wis., April 1, 2007–Climbing out from General Mitchell International Airport (MKE) Runway 19R at 6:45 a.m., the Air Wisconsin CRJ, Flight 3714, experienced uncommanded nose-down stabilizer trim. The captain was flying. At 1,000 feet, the pilots retracted the flaps and disengaged the autopilot.

BEECH 65-A90, FENTRESS, TEXAS, OCT. 17, 2003–King Air N511BF was destroyed during a forced landing at approximately 3:30 p.m., following a loss of engine power near Fentress. The sole-occupant commercial-rated pilot sustained minor injuries. The King Air A90 was registered to American Aircraft Sales International of Venice, Fla., and was operated by Sky Dive San Marcos of San Marcos, Texas.
